Overview
Ecuador is a South American country with a small adoption program. Like many countries, parental poverty and neglect are the main reasons that the children become available for adoption in Ecuador.
Children Available for Adoption from Ecuador: Children of different ages, beginning with older-infants to school-age children with identified medical and/or developmental needs are available.
Children are cared for in orphanges throughout Ecuador.
Parents Qualification:
- Applicants should be 25 to 50 years of age
- Adoptive couple married for minimum 3 years.
- Younger parent must have an age difference with the child of at least 14 years.
- Single women may adopt
- No physical or mental health concerns
- No criminal history
Timeline: After dossier completion until receiving a referral, the timeframe is unpredictable / variable.
Travel: In case of adoptive couple, both parents must travel to Ecuador. Average stay is 8 weeks, but stay length can vary from case to case. After 4 weeks one parent may return to the U.S.
