Overview
Brazil has a small, but straight-forward intercountry adoption program. Brazil welcomes married, single or same-sex couples. For married couples, there is no requirement regarding the length of the marriage.
Children Available for Adoption from Brazil: ·
- School age children up to age 15, with the majority between 7-15 years of age, male and female, from healthy to those with minor to moderate medical conditions,·
- Sibling groups of any age who are basically healthy are available. There is a great need for families open to adopting 2,3, or 4 siblings together!
Parent Qualifications:
- Parents must be at least 25 years of age and at least 16 years older than the child they hope to adopt
- Other children in the home, both biological and adopted, are acceptable.
Timeline:
Parents must travel for one trip, 45 days in length, for adoption proceedings in country.
Thirty days of that trip are the co-habilitation period. The family will be living with the child, or children, in Brazil to form the parental bond.
